For many California truck drivers, safety is a primary concern and a reigning priority as they transport shipments between destinations. However, big rig drivers are subject to many unique risks that can lead to dangerous accidents if not carefully navigated.
This was the case for one truck driver in a recent semi accident on a busy highway in San Ramon. Early morning 911 calls painted the picture of a semi that had abruptly left the roadway and had clipped a car on the right shoulder of the road in the process. First responders arrived to find the truck's driver deceased. The big rig slammed into a tree after going off of the highway and barreling through a fence. The truck then came to a rest on San Ramon Valley Boulevard. Fortunately, the occupants of the vehicle that was damaged by the truck were unhurt. Because of the widespread area of the accident and the fact that the semi was in the middle of San Ramon Valley Boulevard, the road was temporarily closed between Alcosta Boulevard and Pine Valley Road. The highway reopened in the early evening hours. Investigators are still working to determine what caused the truck driver to crash.
